Dear beloved OFRH family,
Last month I wrote about the difficult seasons we go through as believers and that our loving Lord is readying us during times of affliction as only He wisely understands best. He makes no mistakes as He works out His purpose in your life and mine. We’ll find the apostle Peter embellishing this theme when Dr. Fuller teaches from 1 Peter this month, especially chapter 4:12-14. Here’s that Scripture from the Amplified Version:
“Beloved, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal which is taking place to test you [that is, to test the quality of your faith], as though something strange or unusual were happening to you. But insofar as you are sharing Christ’s sufferings, keep on rejoicing so that when His glory [filled with His radiance and splendor] is revealed, you may rejoice with great joy. If you are insulted and reviled for [bearing] the name of Christ, you are blessed [happy, with life-joy and comfort in God’s salvation regardless of your circumstances], because the Spirit of glory and of God is resting on you [and indwelling you – He whom they curse, you glorify].”
Why would we want to get to the point of actually rejoicing when we suffer for Christ? It will be so worth it because we know that this is evidence that we are His true children, and we know He is preparing us for eternity – to live in His presence surrounded by His unspeakable love, and filled with joy unspeakable and full of glory (see 1 Peter 1:8 KJV).
Three weeks ago we received the following email which I want to share with you: “As a child of the 1950s I remember my father listening on Sunday morning to the OFRH on his portable radio. He would have it sitting on the vanity to listen while he shaved and showered while getting ready for church. He had the volume loud enough to hear while in the shower, so the rest of the family heard it too whether we wanted to or not [smile]. I praise God for such a Christian upbringing. I remember the OFRH quartet and their beautiful songs. Just the sound of the music from so long ago makes my heart happy! Thank you for continuing to broadcast these jewels. I look forward to hearing it all every Sunday.”
It’s a joy to know that showers of blessing are continuing to refresh this (now adult) person through OFRH. We hope the “beautiful songs” of our featured CD this month will also make your “heart happy.” The title is Good Old Summertime with 5 numbers by the choir, 5 by the quartet and 5 piano solos by Rudy Atwood. The price is just $16.50 which includes shipping ($18 for Californians due to tax).
Showered with the Savior’s love,
Michael Khanchalian, D.D.S.
