Beloved member of the OFRH family and of the family of God,
As I write, May is about to arrive. Dr. Fuller will continue guiding us through the book of Ephesians. Our first stop on Sunday, May 2, finds him in Ephesians 2, verses 13 and 14 where we will be refreshed in the certainty of this statement: Christ Is Our Peace.
Last month we celebrated Easter and the awesome truth (rendered in a wonderful chorus) – “For God so loved the world, He gave His only Son, to die on Calv’ry’s tree, from sin to set me free….” Not only is that the basis of peace for your soul, but Christ is the ONLY source of peace between people, no matter what race, class, or other differences may exist. This really puts it in perspective for you and me, right now, in this day and time. And governments can never successfully legislate this, whatever form they envision.
Ephesians, chapter 2, goes on about the peace Christ establishes between each of the members of His body who are abiding in Him. Let me invite you, dear friend, if you will, to spend time with me this month in Psalm 46. Nations may be in turmoil, but verse 10 beautifully reminds the child of God to be calm: “Be still and know (recognize, understand) that I am God. I will be exalted among the nations!
I will be exalted in the earth” (Amplified Version). Christ Our Peace provides hope and confident expectation, which is an important component of the ministry of the Old Fashioned Revival Hour.
A recent letter from a 91-year-old lady in Idaho gives testimony to that. She’s been through a great deal of loss over her many years and now has health issues so she can’t get to church. She says, “When I was a little girl on a farm in Wisconsin…we heard this music and I accepted God as my Heavenly Father and he has cared for me daily. What a surprise to hear a re-broadcast…. Today we need programs as yours, so I thank you for the many programs of music and messages – God bless you.”
Of course, it’s through your sacrificial gifts that make it possible for us to continue, so I’m happy to pass on her words of blessing and thanks to you, our faithful supporters, and also to offer our featured CD for May. It’s “Wonderful Peace” with 15 uplifting numbers by the quartet. The cost is $16.50 which includes shipping – however, it’s $18.00 if you live in California (due to tax).
My prayer for you this month is that, as you rest in God’s perfect peace, your calm demeanor will cause others around you to trust (take refuge) in Him as well.
Glad for that Isaiah 26:3 promise of peace,
Michael Khanchalian, D.D.S.
